Naim NAIT

I felt like owning this amp While reading the TNT-Audio article. Althoug it has some practical drawbacks, it is very challenging.

This amp offers a lot of dynamics and shows a lot of details. It sounds quite neutral, a little bit warm (roll-off at the upper high frquencies and a little boost at the mid-bass frequencies). This is really the kind of amp that I wanted. It is not very powerfull, but will be OK for a reasonable room and efficient enough speakers. Some people are using it to power Quad speakers. You can find this amp for about 350€ on eBay, it is quite rare but if you are patient you will be able to find one. The value for the money is excellent ! You should read the TNT-Audio article for more details.

Lot of people having Fostex speakers are using tube amps. For me tere is no reason to be interested only in tubes, even if you have Fostex speakers, it depends on the results you want to have. There are good tube amps but there are also good transistor amps or even now good digital amps. I would like to try TACT digital amps. But I prefer to have this Naim NAIT than a tube amp because tubes tend to smooth the music and to bring harmonic distortion (but OK some people are looking for this). Actually I'd like to have one amp in each category...

I compared this amp to the T-amp and I had no reason to change. Anyway, I have to tweak the T-amp and this should make it a lot better. We'll see.
